REVIEW- Gabriel organic's Red Seaweed Cellular Moisturizer and good news

HELOOOO...Its been ages I know, but was caught up with life and I have some very exciting news to share. I may be revealing this for the first time but I am a doctor and I finished my med school and came to the US, and now I am starting my residency in Internal medicine in June. So was really caught up in paperwork and visitors and family.

As you guys know from my previous posts, I have very oily acne prone skin and I have been searching high and low for a moisturizer that wudnt break me out and at last, after using this one since January I can confidently say that its not doing me any harm, It keeps my skin moisturized and I do not have a greasy face during the day.

The product I want to rave about is the Gabriel organics Red Seaweed Cellular Moisturizer. Its from the oily overactive range of products.

The description on the box is
A weightless, non-oily moisturizer for skin that tends to clog and breakout from conventional moisturizers.  Red seaweed provides an antibacterial and balancing effect on skin, while extracts of green tea and tea tree offer healing benefits and regulate oil production.  The result is a fresh, healthy complexion with a velvety, matte appearance

I was impressed with the ingredient list too- Key ingredients are Red seaweed, tea tree and green tea

Aloe, witch hazel extract, glycerin, glycine soja (soyabean) sterols, red seaweed extract, cinnamomum extract, rosemary leaf extract, soy protein ferment, horsetail extract, olive fruit extract, sodium hyaluronate, aloe leaf extract, green tea leaf extract, tea tree leaf, gotu kola extract, xanthan gum, phenoxyethanol, potassium sorbate, lavender flower extract, lemon peel extract, ascorbyl palmitate, ascorbic acid, citric acid

My opinion-
I have been using this for 5 months now and I am on my second tube, it comes as a 2 oz package which retails for  around 26 dollars.
It is a fragrance free lotion type of consistency, not too watery but not too thick, it glides on smooth on the skin and is absorbed instantly.
I must admit it Im HOOKED! I already suffer from acne prone sensitive skin and most of the moisturizers break me out but not this one. It calms soothes and moisturizes. I also feel it makes a good base for makeup too. I have been using this twice a day everyday and have not had any unpleasant effects so far so fingers crossed :)

Has anyone else tried this product? Any reviews? I have been using the foundation and powder from zuzu luxe which is the same company and have been loving it too....

REVIEW - Mychelle Pumpkin renew cream (unscented)

Hey lovely beauties out there,

As you know I was trying out the mychelle skin care line, I was using the fruit enzyme cleanser and perfect C serum and was very pleased with the line, so I decided I needed to try their moisturizer too...I had a sample from a kit I had purchased a year ago, I tried the pumpkin renew cream coz of all the raving reviews from makeupalley. The sample I tried was ok, not great. felt a little too rich for my skin, but made it baby soft...

To be sure whether I should order the pumpkin renew cream or the oil free grapefruit cream, I had a skin care consultation done by mychelle and they recommended the pumpkin renew cream and I chose to purchase the unscented version coz my husband hated the smell of the scented version, he said I smelt like an old lady :)

I received my package on 24th of December and used very little of the cream am and pm. Its a light green coloured cream, feels heavy to touch and it took a long time to sink into my skin. Throughout the day however, I felt it was keeping my shine at check and was really making my skin super soft...but within 2 days I developed huge cystic acne on my chin and cheeks. I was devastated coz I had worked really hard to try and clear up my skin prior to this.....
I stopped using the cream on the 4th day and no more new zits appeared.

All the ingredients in the cream sound very good, but I dont why I had such a reaction, Im not sure if it was just purging or what...I called the mychelle aesthetician again and she said it could be that the cream is purging  all the toxins from  my skin...but I just could not have a new painful cystic pimple pop up everyday and spoil my face....So I havent used the cream after that..

Has anyone out there had a similar reaction? I had high hopes on this cream :(

Verdict on the pumpkin renew cream-

Pros-
Makes your skin feel baby soft
Balances out the skin so that it dosent produce lotta oil
Safe no toxic ingredients

Cons-
May be a bit too rich for oily and acne prone skin
Caused very bad acne for me! :(

I have been using the zuzu luxe oil free foundation and have been enjoying that and when I went to whole foods to purchase this product I happened to get a few samples of the gabriel skin care line. I have been trying the cream from the oily and overactive skin range....and so far am very impressed with this cream...Will do a full updated review after I have used this cream for at least a couple of weeks....

Happy New Year to everyone!!!

REVIEW- Mychelle perfect C serum

I am writing this post impulsively, but I just couldn't wait to share the results I got with this product...

Drumroll....the Mychelle perfect C serum....

Let me give you some background on my skin first, Im 26, have oily to combination skin, acne prone- at least 3 to 4 pimples a week. I have been searching high a low for something that would help me with my problems especially my acne...and at last I think Ive found it....I hope I dont jinx myself by posting this...but if this helps even one person out there then I would be happy...

The perfect C serum comes in an opaque white glass bottle, ts a 0.5oz bottle and costs 41 dollars.
I came to know about this product from the mychelle sampler I purchased from Vitacost, but  never wanted to use a serum on my already oil burdened face..so I never did..till 2 weeks ago....

The serum itself is orangish in color, the packaging says use 2 pumps, but thats way too much for me considering the price I pay for this bottle, so I just use enough to cover up my face especially my problem areas. I am currently using in twice a day, am and pm after I wash my face with the mychelle fruit enzyme cleanser..

The results I got were instantaneous and fantastic...within the 2nd day I noticed a significant decrease in the redness and the pigmentation from the brown spots from my previous acne....also within a week I noticed the number of pimples were decreasing...even my husband asked me what I was using ( and he never notices small details like this)

On the down side, this does tingle and burn a little when u apply it first ( sensitive skin gals be careful), I think this is mostly because of the high concentration of L-ascorbic acid in it.
Another problem very oily skined gals can face is that in the summer you may end up with an oily face but nothing that some powder cant cover..
Id say if it keeps my zits away and makes my brown spots go away then BRING IT ON!!!

Im currently using the mychelle fruit enzyme cleanser, the perfect C serum, the fruit enzyme mist and some vitamin E oil over my spots and my regular moisturizer

I know what you guys are thinking...41 dollars for half an ounce! thats exactly what I thought...but I 1st tried the sample size( Id highly recommend that because you want to know how your skin reacts to this serum and whether you can tolerate it or not.,,i think the sample may not cost more than a couple of dollars) and If you like the results then purchase the full size..
I got lucky and bought mine at a 50 % off sale mychelle was having on their website..

I just had to share this with you guys...give it a try..
And hey mychelle has bought out a new vitamin A serum too...I got a few samples of it and will be trying it a few weeks...Has anyopne tried the A serum or the C serum? Comments please...

Wishing everyone out there a very merry Christmas and a Happy holiday season....

** EDIT- the sample I tried was really good but the full size I bought started breaking me out, so have stopped it for a while, will restart and try using it once a week or something and tell you all the results

xoxo

My favorite winter mask- Honey spice delight

Winters make even my super oily skin dry- its a combination of factors- the weather, the heater. lack of moisture. This is the mask I love to apply in the winter and it helps with acne and scars too- try it out and let me know

1and half teaspoons raw organic honey
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
a pinch of clove powder

Heat the honey in the microwave for 5 to 7 seconds ( to make it softer, otherwise raw honey is solid)
mix in the powders and apply on cleansed skin.
Leave it on for 15 to 20 mins.
Wash with lukewarm water and then splash with cold water.
Tone and moisturize
And voila- glowing clear skin

You can use this mask as often as you want
Anyone has anymore honey recipes? do post them as a comment..

Quick healthy breakfast option

Here is a quick breakfast option that you can prepare the previous night and consume in the morning, I usually make it in the morning though.

you will need-
1/4 cup yogurt ( plain, flavoured, whatever u please)
1/4 cup quick cooking oats
1 teaspoon raw honey
quarter of an apple diced
some walnuts

Mix all these together, you can vary the proportions as you please...tastes delicious and its healthy too :)
Enjoy

Product review- Zuzu luxe oil free liquid foundation with SPF 18

I was on the lookout for a good natural foundation and I have found it!!!

Its the zuzu luxe oil free liquid foundation with SPF 18

Now first let me tell you that zuzu luxe has reformulated their product( according to the gabriel cosmetics representatives I met at whole foods), so the one I got is in a plastic squeeze tube with a silver cap and Not the one with the pump as shown in the website.
The ingredients and the color options have changed too.
Ingredients-aqua( infusion of aloe leaf juice), glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, calendula flower extract, ascorbyl palmitate, tocopheryl acetate, limonene, cellulose gum, lecithin, silica, mica, xanthan gum, cetyl alcohol, kaolin, iron oxides, titanium dioxide, potassium sorbate.

The description on the packaging -
A weightless multi-mineral foundation packed with botanical ingredients the provide antibacterial and oil regulation benefits for skin that tends to clog and breakout from conventional formulas. An exclusive blend of proven age fighting antioxidants has been added to combat the damaging effects caused by environment as well as a chemical free full spectrum sunblock to shield skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays. The result is a fresh healthy complexion with a velvety finish.

Colour options- they have a good range on colours and for my Asian medium toned skin I chose L-14 ( Remember that they have changed the colour options too now)

Now lets get on the with the actual review-

The tube is a 1 fl oz tube( 30 ml) and comes in a basic plastic tube, there is nothing fancy about the packaging.
The consistency of the product is a very smooth liquid, it comes out easily, and has a nice velvety texture.
Even with my bad skin ( breakouts, redness, scars), you need a very small quantity for good coverage- i usually smooth it on with my clean fingers and it slides on very nicely. Its neither too drying nor too heavy, in fact once you put it on you feel like you have not applied make-up, but don't let this fool you. This product has AMAZING coverage!
I usually use a little more on my scars and my redness and my under-eyes. I have noticed that you can build up the product and it still feels weightless and does not look cakey.
I usually set it with the zuzu luxe dual powder foundation ( review coming up soon).
I have received a lot of compliments after I started using this foundation and some of my friends who tried it have ordered this already

Results-
have been using this for 4 weeks now and I must say this is the best foundation I have tried to date.
the PROS-all natural ingredients
                 oil free
                 great coverage
                 lasts quit a while
Does not cause breakouts ( Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!)
Has a natural sunscreen built in ( but I would recommend using sunscreen under this too)
                 Looks natural and not made-up

CONS- so far I have not seen any problem with this product- I love it and will continue using it!!!

I purchased this product from Whole foods for around 29 bucks. You can check out all the gabriel and zuzuluxe products via the following link
